Christian Reflection On The 13th General Election
Submitted by newsteam on Fri, Apr 19, 2013 - 5:00 pmThe teachings of the Church call on the faithful to take an active part in public life (nos. 1913-1915 Catechism of the Catholic Church) and to exercise the right to vote (no. 2240 CCC).
Article 119 of the Federal Constitution grants each and every citizen above the age of 21 of sound mind and not serving a prison sentence, the right to vote.
The constitutional right to vote is a right to be exercised with due care and thought. Read more »

Red Mass Celebration 2013

The Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit, commonly referred to as the Red Mass, was held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the century old Church of St. Anthony, Kuala Lumpur.
The presider was the newly installed Bishop of Penang, His Lordship Bishop Sebastian Francis. Read more »

Kuantan Church Gets Leave To Challenge Land Acquisition
Submitted by newsteam on Sat, Nov 17, 2012 - 5:00 pmThe High Court, Kuantan this morning allowed the Kuala Lumpur Archbishop to challenge the acquisition of part of the Church land now occupied by the St Thomas School, Kuantan.
The Archbishop filed his application for leave for judicial review on 3 September 2012 to inter alia quash the decision to acquire part of the Church land.
The Archbishop also seeks various declarations that the acquisition is in contravention of Articles 3 and 11 of the Federal Constitution that protects and guarantees freedom of religion. Read more »

Update On Fr. Paulino's Case
Submitted by newsteam on Sat, Sep 15, 2012 - 1:00 amCome Tuesday, 18 September 2012 at 9 am, the PJ Sessions Court judge Puan Hayatul Akmal Binti Abdul Aziz will decide if Fr. Paulino Miranda has to enter his defence to the charge of participating in an ‘unlawful assembly’.
21 prosecution witnesses were called and testified at the trial that spanned over 25 days. The prosecution had closed its case and Judge Hayatul then heard submissions from counsels on whether the prosecution has made out a prima facie case against all the accused. Read more »

Sensitizing The Community On Their Constitutional Rights

The sessions included the rights and responsibility to vote and constitutional rights of freedom of religion as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
Two concurrent sessions were held in Tamil and Bahasa Malaysia. Read more »

Sabah Catholic Lawyers Hold Inaugural Red Mass 2012

As such, they must respond and justify the call by performing good deeds in their profession as well as daily life.
This reminder came from Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu, Datuk John Lee when he celebrated the Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit, known as Red Mass, the first of its kind in Sabah, at the Church of Mary Immaculate in Bukit Padang, Saturday. Read more »

One of our young ladies was involved in a car accident just before the New Year and will be spending the next 3 months immobilised due to a broken hip. She nevertheless was quite cheerful when I called her on the phone before I left.

Red Mass Celebration 2012

The Mass, popularly known as the Red Mass was presided by His Grace, Rt. Rev. Cornelius Sim, DD, Apostolic Vicar, Brunei (Bishop of Brunei).
Con-celebrants were His Grace Archbishop Murphy Pakiam, Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Rev. Fr. Jestus Pereira, the Society’s Ecclesiastical Assistant and Rev. Fr. Simon Labrooy, parish priest of STM. Read more »
