Attorney General Fails In Appeal Against Acquittal Of Fr. Paulino

High Court Judicial Commissioner, Choong Siew Kim found that the Attorney General had failed to establish a prima case against Rev. Fr. Paulino Miranda.

Fr. Paulino together with 20 others were previously acquitted by the Sessions Court on 18th September 2013.

Father Paulino was charged together with Tony Pua, MP for Petaling Jaya Utara, Ms Tiew Wai Keng State Assemblywoman for Teretai, Selangor and Lau Weng Sang State Assemblyman for Kampong Tunku, Selangor. They were charge for inter alia taking part in an illegal assembly in front of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) building on October 9, 2008 between 9pm and 10.10pm and for failing to disperse after a police order.

In the course of the High Court appeal, Madam Justice Choong viewed the various tape recording of the incident but found favour with the submissions of counsels for Fr. Paulino and 20 others.

Fr Paulino was represented by CLS past president, Francis Pereira.
