CLS Pre-Christmas Gathering with Migrant and Orang Asli Community

On 17 December 2022, the Catholic Lawyers’ Society (CLS) headed to Kilang Papan, Sungai Lalang, Semenyih to spread the Christmas cheer to the Migrant and Orang Asli Community.

It was indeed an adventure for the volunteers as they had to pass through the muddy, rocky and bumpy road using a four-wheel-drive. Upon arriving, the volunteers were greeted with warm welcoming smiles from the Migrant and Orang Asli Community.

The gathering started off with Mass by Rev. Fr. Nicholas Hoh, OCD. Sitting on the cool wooden benches of a simple open area in the Kilang Papan, the Migrant and Orang Asli Community members, both young and old including mothers with children, prayed together in Bahasa Malaysia (BM).

After Holy Communion, the Community joined in for a Christmas feast featuring delicious chicken briyani.

Thereafter, President of the Catholic Lawyers Society, Mr. Godfrey Fernandez and Rev. Fr. Nicholas Hoh, OCD handed 35 grocery bags (sponsored by the Catholic Lawyers’ Society) to the Migrant and Orang Asli Community.

The children were also delighted to receive their early Christmas gifts such as stationeries and delicious treats with a big smile on their faces. Post-handing over the grocery bags and Christmas gifts, the Committee continued with carolling and fun-filled games for the children.

All in all, it was indeed a great success by the Catholic Lawyers’ Society, as they had great support from volunteers who worked as a cohesive and committed team to ensure the gathering ran smoothly and made it a meaningful and memorable one.
