Cop Informs Court Of Ops Padam

Chief Inspector Ahmad Bin Ishak, Chief Police Officer of PJ Police Station informed the Sessions Court at Petaling Jaya that “Ops Padam” (operation erase) was the police code name for the operation carried out against those participating in the rally on November 9, 2008 at Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya.

Ahmad gave evidence that his duties in Ops Padam included organising the police into groups to carry out arrest, maintain peace and take photographs.

Ahmad was giving evidence at the trial of Fr. Paulino Miranda and 20 others that included YB Tony Pua, YB Ronnie Liu and YB Lau Weng San who are jointly charged for participating in an illegal assembly on Nov 9, 2008 and for failing to adhere to an order to disperse issued by the police.

He said there were approximately 90-100 people present with lit candles and most wearing black and orange t shirts, some with the words, ‘I am for RPK” printed on the t shirts.

The trial stood adjourned and will continue on 25 July 2011.
