Court Discharges Sg Siput MP Michael Jeyakumar

Six Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) members, including Sungai Siput MP Dr D. Michael Jeyakumar, charged with possessing documents for an illegal assembly and having subversive papers were given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal by a Sessions Court here.

Dr Jeyakumar, 56, said they were relieved to be given the discharge by Sessions judge Ikmal Hishan Mohd Tajuddin, but they would try to meet with the Home Ministry to seek answers over the offences which they allegedly committed before the Bersih 2.0 rally in July.

“We want them to look into the police force as there is something fishy going on. Who was calling the shots and making up the lies? Why were we detained for a month?” he said to reporters outside the court Friday morning.
