The recently elected CLS Committee Members had an audience with His Grace, the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur at the Archbishop’s residence, Cardign House on 22 July 2013.
The meeting was preceded with vespers followed by a bountiful dinner and fellowship. After dinner, President Viola D’Cruz introduced her new committee to the Archbishop.
His Grace explained his thoughts to the committee members. He encouraged the committee members to live their Christian life through their chosen profession to give glory to God. He advised the committee members to be also involved in their respective home communities through their respective BECs and share their experiences from the Society at the BECs.
His Grace explained the need to build bridges with other religious communities and develop communication channels and dialogue with them. President Viola informed His Grace that the Society intends to develop its membership base. She also explained that the Society will continue with its legal education and reach out to as many parishes, Catholic organisations and groups through its seminars and talks on various aspects of the Federal Constitution and issues that afflict the Church in Malaysia. His Grace requested the Society to invite His Excellency, The Apostolic Nuncio to preside at the next Red Mass in January 2014.
Also present at the meeting were His Grace, Archbishop Emeritus, Most Rev Soter Fernandez, the CLS Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Jestus Pereira, and the CLS adviser, Dato’ Dr Sir Peter Mooney.
