The AlKitab Bahasa Malaysia bible and the Bup Kudus Iban-language bible at the centre of the controversial raid by JAIS on the Bible Society of Malaysia office earlier this year.
Despite being told by the Attorney General to return the 300 bibles in Bahasa Malaysia (AlKitab) and the Iban language (Bup Kudus), which were seized by the state Islamic affairs department (JAIS) in January, the Selangor government still wants to meet Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail for clarification on his decision.
State executive councillor in charge of religious affairs Sallehin Mukhyi said the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) still have to wait for the saga to be resolved.
"When the bibles were seized from the BSM, the proper legal process was followed until the decision was made.
"The legal process means how the bibles were seized, that is how it will be returned."
"The first is an explanation from the Attorney-General. The second needs to take harmony into account.
"If the BSM could wait this long for a decision from Gani, then I think the return of the bibles might take equally long," Sallehin told a press conference in Kajang today without wanting to elaborate further.
He said the state will meet with Gani soon.
Yesterday, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had told the Selangor Islamic Religion Department (JAIS) to return the seized AlKitab and Bup Kudus to BSM.
Khalid said instructions had been given to JAIS to return the seized holy books to BSM.
