Dear Fr Lawrence Andrew SJ, We the Youths of St Anne’s Church wish to express our whole-hearted support for you during this critical period where you have been subjected to severe persecution in the form of vicious attacks and contempt by the use of offensive words like “biadap” and the burning of your pictures and effigy by certain irresponsible, misguided and extremist segments of the Muslim population within Selangor.
We are also aware that you have been unfairly investigated and could possibly be charged for a criminal offence for merely defending and upholding the freedom to worship especially those of our Malay-speaking brethren by the use of the word ‘Allah’ during the Bahasa Malaysia mass.
We are truly inspired by your faith, courage and determination in defending our faith and in your quest for truth and justice. In these difficult times we assure you that you are not alone in your struggles. We stand in solidarity with you and pray to God that you be consoled and strengthened with tremendous blessings to persevere in this righteous cause. We also ask Our Holy Mother to intercede for you as Mother of all Priests and to obtain protection for you from all dangers.
We have asked our youths to offer prayers for you and fervently hope that the authorities will make the wise decision not to charge you for any offence. We also ask that you remain strong in spirit and not be discouraged by unfair comments and criticisms against you for pursuing what you and we believe to be a fair and just cause.
